Have you ever tried to figure out the order of who is to be seated first at the wedding when it comes to the bride's mother, grandparents, and the groom's parents? Well we're here to help! Q: Who walks down the aisle first, the bride's mother or the groom's parents? A: Here's the traditional rundown, but varies based on religion: After the ushers have seated all of the guests, the grandparents are escorted up the aisle followed by the groom's parents. Then the bride's mother takes her turn up the aisle. The bride's mother is the last to be seated before the bridal party procession begins. Dad will be walking his princess down the aisle for her grand entrance. :) Having a Day-Of Coordinator available on your special day will ensure that everyone knows when to walk the aisle. Today's blog is a quick Q & A on whether you should have a receiving line for your wedding. In case you do not know what a receiving line is, it's the traditional way for the bride and groom to thank each individual guest for coming to their wedding after the ceremony. It is traditional that this line include the brides parents, grooms parents, bride and groom, and bridal party (if there is room). Although this is the traditional line up, many couples choose to be the only ones in their receiving line.
Q: Is it necessary to have a receiving line? A: Although a traditional receiving line is considered proper wedding etiquette, it is not necessary. The bride and groom should take the time on their wedding day to greet all of their guest. If you're going for the traditional receiving line, make sure this is done immediately after the ceremony, usually at the entry doors of your ceremony venue. A receiving line can be very time consuming if you have a large guest list, so be mindful of your time. If you choose not to have a traditional receiving line, visit each table at the reception and thank family and friends for helping you celebrate. They'll appreciate having a little "one-on-one" and the opportunity to offer you their best wishes. ~Happy Planning |
