Q: Is it necessary to have a receiving line?
A: Although a traditional receiving line is considered proper wedding etiquette, it is not necessary. The bride and groom should take the time on their wedding day to greet all of their guest. If you're going for the traditional receiving line, make sure this is done immediately after the ceremony, usually at the entry doors of your ceremony venue. A receiving line can be very time consuming if you have a large guest list, so be mindful of your time. If you choose not to have a traditional receiving line, visit each table at the reception and thank family and friends for helping you celebrate. They'll appreciate having a little "one-on-one" and the opportunity to offer you their best wishes. ~Happy Planning
