A bridal shower is a special gathering of the maid or matron of honor, bridesmaids, close family, and friends of the bride-to-be to "shower" her with their love and gifts before her big day. Here are a few tips to get you started on planning the best bridal shower. ~Happy Planning
The Hosts:
Usually the maid or matron of honor will host the bridal shower along with the bridesmaids.
The Invites:
Close female friends and family of the bride is invited. Invitations are mailed out by the host. If the event will only be a few guests, a simple phone call with the details will be okay. The host should consider DIY invitations for the bridal shower. Good etiquette is to invite those that are also invited to the wedding.
The Date:
Bridal showers can be held three months before the wedding date up to two weeks before the wedding date. The date will depend on the bride's schedule and her preference. Check with her before setting a date.
The Place:
Bridal showers can be held in a venue, restaurant, or the home of the host or close family member. Keep the bride's taste in mind when selecting a place to hold the event.
Themes:
Themes are not necessary for bridal showers but it makes them a lot of fun. :)
Decor:
Simple floral arrangements are perfect for a bridal shower. If you are hosting a themed bridal shower, use decor that will center around the one theme by color or other factors of the theme.
Games:
Keep things interesting and fun by adding games to the bridal shower. An old favorite is making a wedding dress with toilet paper. You can divide the guest into teams for this one. Be sure to give out small keepsakes for the winners. Most of all, have fun!
Thank You:
Be sure to designate someone to keep track of the gifts received and who brought the gift. The bride will need to send thank you cards for the gifts received.
